Why read when there are so many other forms of entertainment available?

 Harold Bloom, renowned literary critic writes that reading should not be abandoned because it is a «difficult pleasure» but it should be adopted as a way of becoming more human.

This year we hope to read many challenging pieces of literature together to better know ourselves and to better know the human condition. Reading can indeed be a difficult pleasure, but solitary reading becomes a pleasure when you can share your reactions and sentiments with others over coffee or tea.
